ABOUT US....
We are a group of enthusiastic and energetic people who have a deep passion for the town we live in. The group, set up over seven years ago when some locals felt the need to help, protect and promote the town not only for the history but because they felt it was a great place to live. Many of our volunteers are from an educational background that have adapted their abilities to return to the classroom working with local and regional schools to engage and educate students about local and national history.
We continue to work with schools, groups, organisations and Individuals today, offering free guided history walks, talks, presentations, help and advice. We offer a variety of services that appeal to all ages!
Glossop Tours likes to PEEP Promote: We love to promote Glossop as best we can; there is a wealth of things to do and see in and around the town that is steeped in over two thousand years of history. Engage: Glossop Tours is constantly developing a variety of curriculum based material that includes games, worksheets, presentations and hands-on activities that engage students of all ages and abilities. Educate: We don’t like to brag but we do know a lot about Glossop and the surrounding area. We believe that we need to pass on the hundreds of amazing facts and fascinating stories that have shaped the town we know today. If we don’t, it will be lost for ever. Protect: We aim to fight to preserve our towns history by protecting local buildings, historic sites and places. We attend local meetings to fight to keep public buildings open, maintained and available for everyone to use in years to come.
